Narcissism is something many people experience in their lives and when someone enters your life with Narcissistic Personality Disorder it can literally turn your life upside down. This can have a massive impact on yourself, your family and even your friends. When it comes to your Spiritual Journey, they can be an essential part of your spiritual growth and ascension process. Today within this article, I am going to speak about Narcissism and the Role these people play on your Spiritual Journey.
Narcissists can often come in the form of the Archetypal Tricker as on the surface they can come across as sweet and innocent, yet behind the scenes they are far from it. Behind your back they can lie, manipulate and deceive those around you in order to gain control of your life. This is not only abusive, its also very toxic behaviour! When questioned on their actions they can become fiery and aggressive, whilst often playing the role of the innocent. This acting out on innocence is used to mask their behaviour to then manipulate you further. The truth is that I have been through this and whilst it hasn’t been pleasant, it has helped me grow and evolve. To begin this article, lets explore how people become Narcissistic, like everything it is not something we have been born with…
Those who have a Narcissistic Personality Disorder tend to have an upbringing that is either highly abusive or grow up in a family where one of their parents is high on the narcissistic spectrum scale. People who have gone through a high degree of abuse can tend to embody Shadow aspects of The Orphan Archetype or act from a place of The Innocent archetype where they become a highly sensitive person.
Orphan Archetype – Orphans are children who are deprived of parental protection and nurture while too young and skilled to take care of themselves. Parents may remain on the scene but will neglect, victimise or abuse the child. In situations where children have been through this, they can grown up with the desire and need to control the environment and those around them. This desire to control is born out of childhood where they had no control and were consistently abused, and in many ways this is where they come to embody the Shadow aspects of the Orphan.
Shadow Aspect of the Orphan – They can play the role of the victim to control and manipulate the environment. They can be callous in their actions whilst also being masochistic where they take gratification in ones pain and humiliation.
For The Orphan to transform first they will first need to have the desire to change. They also have to learn to understand the truth of ones plight and feel pain, abandonment and victimisation that caused this behaviour. This will require deep healing and as with anyone on their Spiritual Journey, healing is essential and it’s not something you can bypass!
When it comes to your Spiritual Journey, these individuals can teach you a lot about yourself. As many people say: “Everyone is your Mirror…” and Narcissists like everyone can help you to grow and evolve. One thing that I have come to learn is that Narcissistic people will often latch onto someone who is highly empathic as they feel sorry for them. In the process of doing this they can control and manipulate the empath while taking advantage, this is where they play the role of the victim to regain control.
If you are someone who is empathic, then a narcissist may come into your life to teach you about trust and intuition. As you grow on your spiritual journey, you learn to connect with your own energy and also other peoples energy. Your intuition becomes heightened and you can sense when something is not right. This is when you learn to use your discernment as you make choices that are in alignment with your Soul. It’s also the knowing that if you don’t follow your gut or intuition then you will bring about situations that will only cause you more pain.
Narcissists can also teach you about Self Worth and Setting Boundaries! When you are not honouring and valuing yourself then you can attract someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. You can also find yourself repeating experiences until you learn to love, honour and value yourself. One of the greatest lessons that I have learned about Narcissism on your Spiritual Journey is the need to set boundaries. You have to set healthy boundaries or else others will take advantage of the you. There is a great quote that goes along the lines of “The only people who get upset about you setting boundaries are the the ones who are benefiting from you having none”. Healthy boundaries are an essential part of self-care, they are also a way for you to protect your energy as you transcend on your Spiritual Journey. It’s important to note that: Healthy boundaries are not walls. They are gates and fences that allow you to enjoy the beauty of your own garden.
